The day in Belém begins early, among pirarucus, dourados, tucunarés, açaí, roots, spices, herbs, medicinal oils, tucupi, and all the colors and aromas of the Ver-o-Peso Market. In addition to tasting the most intense flavors, our itinerary includes experiences such as exploring the city’s history through its 17th-century architecture, navigating a river that feels like the sea, surrendering to the charms of the enchanting Ilha do Amor, and witnessing the meeting of the Tapajós River with the Amazon.
In Alter do Chão, the Amazon reveals one of its most scenic faces, formed by countless islands and stretches of brilliant white sand that emerge in the summer amid the greenish waters of the Tapajós River. There, in the so-called Amazonian Caribbean, you will navigate an incredible labyrinth of waters, including rivers, igarapés, igapós, and the Green Lake with its warm, clear waters. There’s still time to relax in straw huts while enjoying typical regional fruit juices.

Along the way, we will pass through cerrado vegetation until starting a steep but relatively short climb of approximately 1 hour. At the top of the Serra, enjoy a 360-degree view of the Tapajós River, Lago Verde with its bays, the Amazon River to the north, and Alter do Chão to the south. This is a point of great scenic beauty within the Tapajós National Forest. On the return, reboarding the boat, we will navigate to a bay in Lago Verde – Igapó do Macaco, where part of the jungle is submerged from March to August. The landscape is stunning, with opportunities to spot fish and birds. From September to February, the scenery is completely different, with igarapés and natural springs with crystal-clear waters, perfect for a refreshing swim.
