Days 2 to 3 – Mirante do Gavião Amazon Lodge
Included Activities:
Water Trail – Board a “voadeira,” a fast motorboat used for river transfers, for a tour of the Anavilhanas National Park. Depending on the season, the scenery changes dramatically! Guests can enjoy beautiful clear sand beaches and dark waters during the dry season or the magic of the flooded igapós during the wet season, when the forest is submerged and the trail takes place among the treetops.
Sunset Contemplation – One of the highlights of the Amazon is the stunning sky reflected in the Rio Negro. It’s difficult to describe the shades of pink, lilac, green, and blue blending with the deep green of the forest, mirrored in the dark waters of the river. The sunset tour takes place on voadeiras to the best location among the islands to enjoy the silence, feel the peace, and immerse in the Amazon colors.
Nighttime Wildlife Spotting – Traveling to the Amazon means understanding that nature is the star of the adventure! To observe wildlife, guests must remain silent and follow the guides’ instincts. Spotting a caiman on the riverbank or a sloth in the trees allows visitors to appreciate the grandeur of the forest. On this activity, experienced guides take guests on voadeiras through the Anavilhanas National Park in search of nocturnal animals.
Lodge Leisure Areas – Between tours and meals, guests can enjoy the lodge’s leisure areas. The Rio Negro deck invites guests for a river bath, and kayaks and stand-up paddles are always available. For a change, the pool is also an option. On rainy days, the game room is preferred, and good books about the Amazon are available. The viewpoints are ideal for sunrise and sunset, and for the evening, a relaxing massage is recommended (optional – included in packages of 5 days/4 nights or more).
“Be a Local”: Amazonian Art and Education – “Being a local” means being an Amazonian! Amazonians are the people living in the world’s largest rainforest. On this day, guests explore Novo Airão to visit local educational, conservation, and craft initiatives. Guests learn about the projects they directly support by choosing to travel to the Amazon with Mirante do Gavião Amazon Lodge. This is a land-based tour in an air-conditioned vehicle, covering short distances within Novo Airão, with the optional use of hotel bicycles.
