Short description:

Many waterfalls, typical Cerrado landscapes, and scenic hikes come together on this trip to one of the oldest cities in Goiás: Pirenópolis.

Its mansions, streets, and churches with colonial architecture—one of the richest collections of heritage sites in Brazil—are listed by IPHAN.

All of this, combined with the local gastronomy, makes Pirenópolis an incredible option for your next trip.

Detailed itinerary:

1º Day – Origin / Brasília – Pirenópolis – Historical & Cultural City Tour
Flight to Brasília (or Goiânia, on request), arrival by 12:00. Transfer to Pirenópolis, 150 km away. Arrival and check-in at the selected inn. Welcome lunch at a typical local restaurant. Afternoon historical and cultural city tour.

2º Day – Cachoeira do Rosário
After breakfast, visit the Araras stream basin in the Serra da Água Limpa. Travel of 35 km. Trails through cerrado with quartzite cliffs, walking along veredas, canyons, and gallery forests to reach Cachoeira do Rosário, a 45m waterfall forming crystal-clear green pools. Late lunch in town. Circular trail of 1.5 km, moderate difficulty.

3º Day – Reserva do Abade & Parque dos Pireneus
After breakfast, drive up the Serra dos Pireneus via the park road. First stop: Ventilador viewpoint at 1,100m, offering panoramic views of Pirenópolis. Next, Reserva do Abade: circular walk through gallery forests, cerrado fields, and veredas, visiting four waterfalls with natural pools. Afterwards, Parque dos Pireneus: trails through high-altitude cerrado, veredas, and rupestrian formations millions of years old. End the day at 1,400m altitude, the second-highest peak in the Central-West.

4º Day – Zen Buddhist Monastery – Cachoeiras dos Dragões
After breakfast, visit one of the most preserved cerrado areas in Pirenópolis: Várzea do Lobo in Serra da Água Limpa. Walk through humid fields and gallery forests to reach the eight waterfalls of the Dragões complex, with crystal-clear natural pools and colorful quartzite cliffs. Circular trail of 5 km, difficult.

5º Day – RPPN Santuário Vagafogo – Pirenópolis – Brasília / Origin
After breakfast, visit this sustainable tourism and cerrado fruit-extraction project. Walk through primary cerrado forests with centenary trees, including Jatobás, Jequitibás, and others, until reaching the 400-year-old Jatobá, called “Mãe da Floresta,” ideal for a true forest bathing experience. Trails pass through 18th-century gold-mining areas, with small waterfalls and natural pools. Brunch included with over 60 locally prepared items. Check-out and transfer to Brasília airport, flights recommended after 18:00.
