Short description:

Many waterfalls, typical Cerrado landscapes, and scenic hikes come together on this trip to one of the oldest cities in Goiás: Pirenópolis.

Its mansions, streets, and churches with colonial architecture—one of the richest collections of heritage sites in Brazil—are listed by IPHAN.

All of this, combined with the local gastronomy, makes Pirenópolis an incredible option for your next trip.

Detailed itinerary:

1st Day – Sunday – Origin / Brasília – Pirenópolis – Historical and Cultural City Tour
Departure to Brasília (or Goiânia, upon request) until 12:00 PM. Transfer Brasília–Pirenópolis (150 km), welcome lunch at a typical restaurant. Check-in at the chosen inn and historical and cultural city tour in the afternoon.

2nd Day – Monday – Vargem Grande Reserve
After breakfast, we will ascend the Pireneus Mountains 10 km on a dirt road. The destination has easy trails paved with stones, with rich vegetation including veredas, gallery forests, and rupestrian cerrado fields leading to Santa Maria and Lázaro Waterfalls. The site has a Visitor Center with a local products shop. Late lunch in town.

3rd Day – Tuesday – Rosário Waterfall
Today we visit the Araras stream basin in Serra da Água Limpa. After breakfast at the inn, we head to the Araras Sanctuary. The trails pass through rocky cerrado with exuberant quartzite cliffs, canyons, and gallery forests. The Rosário Waterfall plunges from a 40 m cliff, forming crystal-clear green pools. Late lunch in town.

4th Day – Wednesday – Vagafogo Sanctuary (RPPN)
Today we visit an attraction that exemplifies sustainable tourism and the extraction of fruits from the cerrado. Walks through primary cerrado forest with centuries-old trees, passing several Jatobá, Jequitibá, and other giant cerrado trees, until we reach the fabulous 400-year-old Jatobá, called MOTHER OF THE FOREST, a moment to enjoy a true FOREST BATH. The trails pass through 18th-century gold mining areas, with natural pools and small waterfalls for bathing. The site offers a gazebo and hammock area for rest. After the walk, we enjoy a brunch with more than 60 items prepared on the farm.
Trail difficulty: easy.
Optional: Adventure Circuit, Rappel, Tree Climbing, Zipline, and Pendulum.

After breakfast at the inn, we ascend the Pireneus Mountains via the Parque road, a dirt road. Our first stop is the Ventilador viewpoint at 1,100 m altitude, with beautiful views of Pirenópolis and surrounding hills. We then go to the Abade Reserve for a circular walk through gallery forests, cerrado fields, and veredas, visiting 4 waterfalls with crystal-clear natural pools for refreshing baths.

Next, we visit Pireneus Park, hiking through high-altitude cerrado, veredas, and rock formations millions of years old. We end the day at 1,400 m altitude at the second-highest peak in the Central-West region.
