Short description:

In Marajó, the horizons are vast, the dips are refreshing, the flavors are intense, and the art is authentic. As the largest river-maritime archipelago on the planet, the destination is bathed simultaneously by the Atlantic Ocean and the Amazon and Tocantins rivers.

All this water frames an exuberant forest and the contrasting landscapes of savanna, mangroves, and igarapés that spread across the islands.

Another remarkable feature of the destination is that it is home to the largest buffalo population in Brazil.

For this reason, tasting their meat, sampling their cheeses, or even riding one of these giant animals is an almost mandatory activity on the farms of Marajó.

The islands, with both fresh and saltwater, have many other captivating experiences to offer.

It’s a place to embrace the Amazonian rhythm: paddle through igarapés winding between mangrove roots, visit deserted beaches like Araúna, witness flocks of birds at sunset, have lunch at fishermen’s huts, and dive into the history of Marajoara pottery with its unique geometric designs.

The itinerary also includes a tour of the capital, Belém, where you can savor the exotic flavors of the Ver-o-Peso Market, follow the rhythm of boats in the Guajará Bay, learn the stories of the Rubber Cycle, and admire the elegant “belle époque” architecture, which left its mark on the city’s churches, theater, and museums in the Old Town.
